Health & Productivity Boosts!

This is going to be a wildly different blog post than I normally do for DSM Story Forge.

However, hear me out.

Let me tell you a story.

We get back home from being in Indiana for my sister’s baby shower. Everything is fine.

The next morning, typical Monday morning, right?

But then…

…Monday night comes and I start to feel not-super-great.

Tuesday morning, immediately from the moment I wake up, things are not going well.

I will spare the details, but for the next 48ish hours my stomach was in utter turmoil.

During this time I: drank nothing but water because I was dehydrated, only ate 2 meals, didn’t have any sort of caffeine, and went to bed around 10pm every night.

When I arose from my terrible situation on Thursday morning. Everything was great!

I felt amazing.

I had gotten so much sleep, drank so much water, felt so much more focused and energetic, and I felt like my body was just at peak performance.

It was an amazing feeling.

So I pondered on some of those changes: drank plenty of water, cut caffeine entirely, got 8+ hours of sleep a night, and cut out a lot of meals and unnecessary junk I was eating.

I’ll be honest – I was scratching my head thinking, “No. No way I feel this good because of all of this. Surely I just feel this great because I’m not sick anymore.”

But, I persisted. Just to try it out for one day.

No caffeine, lots of water, bed around 8-7 hours of solid sleep, and I cut down to just one big meal that day.

I woke up on Friday feeling…

…absolutely amazing…

It was terrible. I finally had proof that those changes were actually really good for me. And I hated it because, if I wanted to keep feeling this good, then I was going to have to keep up some of these changes.

So, here we are.

Still getting to bed earlier and getting more solid sleep, still not having any sort of caffeine, drinking lots and lots of water (I haven’t been measuring, but my guess is at least 90+oz a day, which is more than my previous sometimes ZERO oz of water a day), and I have started doing intermittent fasting.

I wish I could lie a say, “Nothing has improved and nothing is better,” but I just can’t.

I feel way more energetic than I normally do, I feel way more “happy” or at least “content” than normal, I feel like I am able to focus way more and longer, and I can feel myself reacting a little bit quicker to things.

I have no idea about weight loss because it isn’t a primary factor, but I’m sure I have lost some weight already, too.

YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE? I used to have heartburn every single day, constantly. And I haven’t had heartburn AT ALL! I used to get heartburn just taking a drink of water…now? Nothing!

Don’t get me wrong, I dearly miss cold brew coffee. I freaking love coffee, especially cold brew. I miss staying up late to have some “me” time.

Eventually, I may have to incorporate some of that back into my life for my own mental health, but, for now, I am loving these changes too much to let them slip away just yet.

But why do you care?

Because maybe this is the kick you need to try something new to boost your focus, your energy levels, your overall health, and, of course, your productivity!

These are all things I have wanted to be my best at work and at home…and it turns out I could have had them all along…

If you want to hear anymore about this, just let me know – leave a comment, email me directly, whatever. This is way outside the norm for my website, but it does pertain to my business, so I simply had to share.

Next week, we will get back on track. No worries!
