Dylan Scott Miller
Dylan Scott Miller is the founder of DSM Story Forge, the original author who got it all started!
…
First, a quick bit of background about DSM Story Forge and Dylan’s (that’s me) inspiration to make it what it is today.
Back in 2020, I (Dylan) wrote a short ebook because I had left a ministry role and had developed a lot of content around The Lord’s Prayer that never got to see the light of day.
So during the late summer and early fall months, I wrote and edited and wrote some more. Eventually, the first draft of Pray was completed! Then, after some editing and creating my own cover design and figuring out how to self-publish to Amazon…I published it in the spring of 2021!
…And then I went back to work in my content marketing consulting and freelance business.
Promptly neglecting the book and never getting it ready for a print release, I was introduced to Mark Maier.
He wanted help publishing his books, I wanted to publish mine through DSM Story Forge, and the timing was perfect.
So, I restructured DSM Story Forge to function as a publishing company, split off my content marketing business, and doubled down on publishing, releasing THREE books: Pray, 13 8, and 3 A.M. Stories all in the month of December 2022!
And that’s how Dylan, Mark, and DSM Story Forge got it’s big start!
About Dylan Scott Miller
My name is Dylan Scott Miller. Honestly, I’m a super regular dude.
I used to be a Student Ministries Pastor and studied Youth Ministry, then I became a freelance writer, then a content marketer, and now an author!
I love my wife & kids, I own a small business, I go to a protestant church, I volunteer…the list of normalcy goes on and on.
But let me share a little bit about what makes me unique:
- I wear flip flops all year, even in the snow
- I pretty much always wear either a sock hat (or beanie, depending on where you’re from) or baseball cap
- I studied Latin in high school and then Biblical Greek & Hebrew – so the only languages I know aren’t spoken anymore
- I love Ultimate Frisbee and can throw a Frisbee fairly accurately and decently far using just my toes (I’m proud of it, too)
- I write…a LOT…and I like to write in a ton of different things
I don’t take much of anything super seriously, though I can if the need arises. Life is too short to not have fun with it! When I see boring author bios I’d rather die, so I included all the fun and interesting stuff. We can talk accolades and professionalism later, yeah?
I like to write in the tech space, in digital marketing, in ministry & practical theology, in fantasy, in sci-fi, in horror, etc. So my guess is that, at some point, you’ll find something from me you enjoy.
So stay in touch and check everything out – your best bet is to sign up for the Stories From the Forge newsletter to do exactly that!
About Pray
I have been intimately fascinated with The Lord’s Prayer since I was in elementary school.
I never prayed it much or out loud, but I read it and saw it often because of a small knick-knack my grandparents bought me once: a small ship made of tin that sat on a marble base with The Lord’s Prayer inscribed on its sail.
I’m sure they never expected it to have so much impact on my life.
Neither did I.
To this day, I have no idea where that ship is. Maybe thrown away during my years in college? Who knows?
But The Lord’s Prayer left an impression on me that stuck with me.
“What did Jesus mean to ‘pray like this’?”
If you want to know how to pray or what it means to pray according to the ways Jesus has taught us, then I’d invite you to explore The Lord’s Prayer in a way you never have before…
…because if Jesus is telling us to “pray like this,” then we should probably listen.
